Several of Angelo State University's security studies and criminal justice online degree programs have again been ranked among the best and most affordable in the nation for 2022-23 by multiple higher education resource guides.

Several of Angelo State University's security studies and criminaljustice online degree programs have again been ranked among the best and most affordable in the nation for 2022-23 by multiple higher education resource guides.

The ASU programs receiving the most recent national rankings include:

  • Bachelor of Security Studies (B.S.S.) in border and homeland security
  • Master of Science (M.S.) in homeland security
  • Master of Science (M.S.) in criminal justice
  • Master of Science (M.S.) in global security studies

All of the degree programs are offered totally online in eight-week semesters.

"We are delighted that the quality of our faculty and degree programs continues to be recognized at the national level," said Dr. Joseph Rallo, chair of the ASU Department of Security Studies and Criminal Justice. "It's a clear message to our students, both locally and worldwide, that we are living up to our commitment to provide them the knowledge and skills they need for careers that help protect our society."

All the guides use similar criteria for their rankings, including accreditation, quality and length of program, tuition costs, online accessibility, school reputation and return on investment. Data sources include the U.S. Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics, PayScale.com, school websites and other ranking entities like U.S. News and World Report.

Since the security studies and criminal justice programs received their first national rankings in 2014, overall enrollment has increased by over 80%. The prestige added by national rankings has also helped the online M.S. programs in global security studies and homeland security to establish transfer agreements with the National Security Agency and Goodfellow Air Force Base that continue to attract students to ASU from across the country and worldwide.
