San Angelo, Texas - After a lengthy public comment session and comments made by everyone on City Council, the motion to remove nonprofits from eligibility for TIRZ funds failed by 4-3.

Jon James, the Planning and Development Services Director, in his presentation to Council before the vote took place, laid out that the TIRZ Board voted to allow nonprofits in the South TIRZ Zone the ability to apply for funding like their counterparts in the North Zone. However, motions made by Councilmen Thompson and Thomas were the exact opposite of what the TIRZ Board recommended.
