Donald Stewart, 1936-2023

Donald D. Stewart, 86, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. He was born on May 26, 1936, in San Angelo, Texas to John and Florence Stewart.

Don attended Redlands High in California and graduated in the class of 1954. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army. After his discharge, he spent the majority of his career in the construction industry and cement work.

Don married Beverly Monk on October 1, 1966. They have 5 children and spent 56 wonderful years together.

He had a passion for woodworking and spent a lot of his spare time building bookshelves, miniature furniture, and napkin holders for friends and family.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, John and Florence (Knight) Stewart; his sister, Dee Dover; and his daughter-in-law, Phyllis Stewart.

He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Stewart of Grandview, Texas; his children, Christie Pippin and husband Wally of Grandview, Texas; Wayne Stewart and wife Chrissie of Odessa, Texas; Keith Stewart and wife Debbie of Plano, Texas; James Stewart of Cleburne, Texas; Bruce Stewart and wife Dahlia of San Angelo, Texas, and his sister, Laverne Burleson and husband Don of San Marcos, Texas. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

A visitation for Don will be held Monday, May 22nd from 10:00am - 12:00pm at Johnson’s Funeral Home.

A graveside funeral service will be held Monday, May 22nd at 1:00pm at Fairmount Cemetery.
