Dr. Frankie Rainey, Jr. passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023. He was born on September 6, 1938 in Corsicana, Texas to Frankie and Mary Rainey. Frankie Rainey attended Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston, TX and graduated in the class of 1956. He later went on to obtain a B.D., M. DIV., ATS, and Th.D. from Wayland Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Dr. Rainey then began his career in the ministry/education, he served as Pastor for 7 TX Baptist Churches, as Professor at Howard Payne University for 18 years and Canadian Baptist Seminary for 10 years.

Frankie married Sue White in Houston, TX on June 7, 1957 and had 2 children. Dr. Rainey had a passion for people and ministry, he will always be remembered for his love for and commitment to the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frankie and Mary Rainey, and nephew Craig Rainey.

Those left to cherish Dr. Rainey’s life are his wife Sue Rainey, his siblings Roena Tandy and her husband Charles, Larry Rainey and his wife Kim, and Anita Clark and her husband Frank, his children Paul Rainey and his wife Tracie and Rhonda Bertrand and her husband Ray, his grandchildren Nathan Burditt, Ryan Rainey, Daniel Bertrand and Phillip Bertrand, his great grandchildren Makayla & Mila Burditt, Harper & Sloan Rainey, Iris, Stella, & Titus Bertrand, and Hadleigh Bertrand, he is also survived by nieces and nephews, Glen Tandy, Cheryl Bernard, Charla Peterson, Casey Clark, and Kelly Clark.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2023 at First Baptist Church, Burleson, TX. Pallbearers will be Nathan Burditt, Ryan Rainey, Daniel Bertrand, Phillip Bertrand, Paul Rainey, and Ray Bertrand. Dr. Rainey had a passion for both Howard Payne University and the Canadian Baptist Seminary. If you feel led, please make a gift in lieu of flowers.
