Edwina Dela Garza, 1941-2023

Edwina Dela Garza,81, went to be with our Heavenly father on Friday, May 19, 2023.

Viewing will be from 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with a Vigil at 7:00 PM. Mass of burial will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mereta with Father Tom Barley, officiating.

Burial will follow in Mereta-Eola Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dela Garza was born on December 14,1941 to Guadalupe Flores and David Ramirez. Edwina married Alfred Dela Garza on February 14, 1961. Together they have six children.

Edwina worked at Wall ISD for 42 years. She loved her job as a teacher's aide and bus driver. Edwina sang in the Mereta choir, was a CCD teacher, was in the altar society, and an active member at Holy Family Catholic Church for many years. Edwina loved reading James Patterson novels, word finds and visiting Las Vegas. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

She's preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter, Nancy Ann Reyes.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Alfred, her daughter, Sylvia DeLeon and husband Mark of San Angelo; her four sons Norbert Dela Garza and wife Patsy, Robert Dela Garza and wife Ginny all of San Angelo, Hank Dela Garza and wife Becky of San Antonio, and Roger Dela Garza of San Angelo. 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Meals for the Elderly, 310 E Houston Harte Expressway, San Angelo, TX 76903.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Angels Care Hospice and their nurses, Jennifer, Autumn, and Christina for the love and care they showed Edwina.
